Safeplace. is an EP by the Manchester band Hayes & Y.
They approached me with the task to create an artwork for their most ambitious and personal work so far, gravitating around the themes of solitude, isolation, despair and love.
The ever-present intimacy of the EP provoked me to step out of my digital comfort zone and create something 'physical' and pour all of my skills and heart in the execution of the project from start to finish.
Below are a few bits of 'behind the scenes'.
Started out with building the 'safe place' - drawing parallels between the everyday mundane spaces and the inner world.

I used a cheap house modelling kit, that I modified and put together myself.
Next was the most challenging part - modelling the two safe place dwellers and channelling emotion through their clay bodies.
Next step - light test, shooting and colour grading.
As soon as the final artwork came to life, a concept for a teaser campaign with short video snippets for the socials was designed.
Safeplace. by Hayes & Y is available on all streaming platforms.
